This project was
born out of a need for buttons that can be used on a solderless
breadboard. I used to solder wires onto a normal push button switch.
Not only were they big and clunky, but they would always break as well.
I then settled on this design and have never looked back.
The buttons are typical tactile buttons.
These can
be bought for 40 cents to a dollar. They can also be salvaged from just
about any electronic device
I am using a typical .1' breakaway
header. I got
mine from SparkFun.com, although you can get them from just about
anywhere. Following is a picture of these headers. Unfortunately, they
do not come the way you will need them for this project. All it takes
is a set of needle nose pliers to slide each header flush to the black
casing, thus allowing them to stick out farther to make a good contact
with the breadboard. The first picture contains the original headers on
the left and the header after sliding the metal down into the casing on
the right. The picture on the right is where I placed the pliers to get
them to slide. They are not glued so with a little pressure they should
slide right down.
